1974 Remington Ten Forty (Torpedo 18) **IMMACULATE**

$399.99
sold out

Standard Elite 12cpi

This is a wolf in sheeps clothing…

Rebranded and marketed in the US as a Remington, under the hood lurks a savage, aptly named TORPEDO 18 that is renowned by many to be one of the finest portables ever made. Snappy, fast, and a modern design that holds up even now.

Often overlooked as it is not commonly known what these actually are, this machine is a really fantastic feeling machine.

This one was VERY well taken care of, the action is quick, precise, and very light. I don’t believe it was used very much as the plastic, keys, and internals are virtually immaculate. The elite typeface is classy, professional, and fits more on the page at characters per inch.

The internals are almost identical to those of a Torpedo, the biggest difference is the addition of a touch selection knob for the keys, and a sleek plastic body featuring a almost unseen slide forward ribbon cover. I’ve not seen another with a cover like this, no clue if it was a prototype that was discontinued or just a early design.

This machine is a really good one, and seems to match well with touch typists.

The case is in meh condition, the zipper needs some work. But the typer is compact and durable enough to fit a canvas tote, satchel, or even a backpack. (It’s case is included, and could absolutely be refitted with a new zipper.

This is NOT an "as-is" typewriter.

It has been lovingly cleaned, oiled, serviced, and thoroughly tested to ensure it'll hang with whatever you decide to write with it.

It comes with everything you see in the pictures and more;

A brand spankin' new solid black or bichrome red/black ribbon on vintage Remington metal rings(installed), a reprinted original owners manual, the typewriter, it's case, an OFFICIAL Nashville Typewriter sticker and hand-typed note from me, the typeface text sample, and even a few sheets of paper to get you started on the path to analog independence and distraction free writing!

FREE shipping in the continental US, estimates available for international buyers upon request.
