1962 Hermes Standard 8 *Douglas Adams Fave!*

I find it funny that a Swiss made machine is commonly referred to as "The Cadillac of Portable Typewriters", but it's an apt comparison! These feature rich machines are highly sought after and treasured for their precision, usability, and fine quality.

This is a highly sought after desktop machine by both collectors and writers alike in almost pristine condition, the Hermes Standard 8.

The machine is in AMAZING shape, performs beautifully, and has some of the coolest curves I’ve seen on a standard machine. The distinctive seafoam green paint is in wonderful condition, and perfectly accented by the pistachio green hardware. BOTH platen knobs are intact and original, a rarity in itself!

I adore the aesthetic of this machine, it just oozes class and draws you in with that soothing green. This is one of the best examples of this machine that I’ve come across, it was VERY well taken care of by its original owner.

Douglas Adams wrote The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy on this exact model, one of the reasons I waffled on listing it in the first place. :D

The feel is intentional, and feels considerably “snappier” than the feel of its little brother the Hermes 3000. The pica typeface is classic, professional, and easy to read at 10 characters per inch.
