1964 Olympia SM9 **RARE TYPEFACE** *1st Year!*

The Olympia SM9- Olympia’s final model in arguably one of the best series of portable Typewriters ever made. This model tops most lists of the best typewriters ever produced, and after a few sentences, it’s easy to see why. (Skip down to the * below to see just the machine specifics, I can get a little “gushy” about my love of these things. Ha.)
It’s no secret that Olympia’s are my favorite brand…
There are specific Typewriters I like more, but Olympia is MY BRAND.
The reason for this is the amount of thought that went into the creation of these amazing machines is mind-boggling. German precision, consistency, and a stunningly handsome, classic design that holds up well even now. The SM series is arguably one of the best ever made, and the SM9 is the pinnacle of that entire run.
Olympia finally went to a basket shift machine with the release of the SM8, a “budget” portable that lacked some of the extra features most the Deluxe versions had. They followed up with the SM9, which has ALL the bells and whistles. Virtually a portable desktop machine, it is a pleasure to write with. The basket shift mechanism makes extended writing periods comfortable by the ease of the shift.
The action is like all SM’s, quick, snappy, and consistent.
It did not come with a case, but the robust carriage lock and rugged design make this a suitable machine for a backpack, satchel, or canvas tote. (But really, it loves being on a desk most of all! )
This machine features the highly sought after, rare typeface “Italic Pica”. It’s a beautiful large format italic that is crisp and professional, but also whimsical and beautiful. Much rarer than cursive script, it’s classy, professional, and easy to read at ten characters per inch.
This is NOT an "as-is" typewriter. It has been lovingly cleaned, oiled, serviced, and thoroughly tested to ensure it'll hang with whatever you decide to write with it.
It comes with everything you see in the pictures and more;
Your choice of a BRAND NEW solid black or black/red ribbon on vintage metal spools (available in cotton or nylon), a reprinted original owners manual, the typewriter, an OFFICIAL Nashville Typewriter sticker and hand-typed note from me, the typeface sample, and even a few sheets of paper to get you started on your path to analog independence and distraction-free writing!
