1975 Smith Corona Classic 12 ✨RARE HUGE SIX CPI TYPEFACE✨
1964 SCM Galaxie
Speech-Riter No. 29 typeface - 6cpi*
*6 characters per inch, 3 lines to a vertical inch
**Due to the size of the typeface, this is a monochrome machine meaning it can only use a solid color ribbon.
Classic, yet modern.
Considered by many to be the pinnacle of SCM portables, the Galaxie line of Typewriters are fantastic machines.
This machine is AWESOME and wildly unique!!!
The most obvious feature that will blow people's minds is the highly rare, highly collectable, and highly AMAZING, HIGHLY ENORMOUS Speech-Riter No. 29 SIX CPI typeface! It's an extremely rare font for a manual portable as the size of the type wasn't widely used within business applications. It's a really cool semi sans serif font, and it doesn't get much easier to read! 🤓
I’ve run across the other 6cpi (Sight Saver No. 30) typeface several times on these, but this is the first (and only!) Speech-Riter I’ve acquired. It’s similar, but this one is bold and much denser.
The 50's era Smith Coronas were(and are) a fine example of American design and quality that only improved as they moved into the 60’s and 70’s.
Smith Corona innovations in the Galaxie line of portable Typewriters led to some of the best selling Typewriters in Smith Coronas history, it’s easy to see why after a few sentences typed on one.
A true writers machine; the keystrokes are light and easy, the carriage smooth, the H U G E typeface is ridiculously fun, absolutely perfect for labels, or even poetry that will definitely stand out. This machine will handle anything you throw at it!
It’s in very good condition. The paint, plastic, and mechanics are in good shape- there are very little signs of use- this machine was well taken care of! The case is the standard SCM metal ones used in the 60s-early 70s. It's in good functional condition as well, and does a fine job protecting the machine. The Typewriter locks into the bottom of the case with a smart design that incorporates the lid latch. Really durable, really handsome.
This is a collectable showpiece that will only appreciate in value, not many folks know they exist.
This is NOT an "as-is" typewriter.
It has been lovingly cleaned, oiled, serviced, and thoroughly tested to ensure it'll hang with whatever you decide to write with it.
It comes with everything you see in the pictures and more;
A brand spankin' new solid black ribbon available in cotton or nylon on vintage Smith Corona metal spools(installed), a reprinted original owners manual, the typewriter, it's case, an OFFICIAL Nashville Typewriter sticker and hand-typed note from me, the typeface text sample, and even a few sheets of paper to get you started on the path to analog independence and distraction free writing!
FREE shipping in the continental US, estimates available for international buyers upon request.
