$499.99

Elite Typeface - 12 cpi UK Keyset

Iconic.

That’s the best word to describe one of the best selling ultraportable Typewriters ever made- The Olivetti Lettera 22.

The Lettera 22 is one of the best known and beloved portables Olivetti ever sold. The 22 hit the US market by storm in it's release in 1953 and changed the game of Olivetti's export of portable Typewriters from about 30% in 1952, to 60% in 1958 with about 6 and a half Typewriters being made every minute in 10 factories around the world. (5 of them outside Italy!) The 22 is the precursor to the 32, yet, somehow manages to look like it's successor with it's slightly smaller frame and curvier design. While aesthetically and mechanically similar, both have a very different typing feel to them. Many prefer the 32 for it's snappier keystrokes and lighter touch, the 22 has a slightly more heavy push on the keys. (similar to the enormous "portable" Studio 44 that came out the year prior to the 22.) But properly serviced, the 22 is very enjoyable machine indeed. The 22 somehow feels a bit more durable in it's mechanics to the 32 and makes a great "lap machine".

Leonard Cohen used a pistachio green Lettera 22, Sylvia Plath, Bob Dylan, and Gore Vidal also wrote on Lettera 22s.

This little Typewriter is a powerhouse packed into an ultraportable body! Beloved by collectors and writers, it’s is a feature-rich machine that's fun to use, and easy to take literally anywhere you go. Fantastic condition, the elite typeface is professional, concise, and fits more on the page at 12 characters per inch.

The iconic robins egg blue paint is in GREAT condition, some signs of use, but nothing that detracts from the classic aesthetic of such an iconic machine.The case is in good shape, zipper on left side has a small tear, but the other side still works just fine. These little machines are also robust, durable, and have a great carriage lock- so perfect for canvas totes, satchels, even a backpack if you’d prefer!

It comes with everything you see in the pictures and more;

A brand new solid black or red/black ribbon available in nylon or cotton on original Olivetti metal spools(installed), a reprinted owners manual, the stunning typewriter, an OFFICIAL Nashville Typewriter sticker and hand-typed note from me, the typeface text sample, and even a bit of paper to get you started on your path to analog independence and distraction-free writing!

FREE shipping in the continental US, quotes available for international clients upon request.
