I don’t really want to sell this machine. I actually love it, and rode the fence whether to list it at all.
But, the times dictate necessity, and it’s become essential to let some of my more prized machines go to new homes in order to keep up with the rising costs of, well… Everything. Sigh.
Baby’s are FANTASTIC little machines! Smart, minimalist design with a well-performing little machine under the hood. They aren't quite the full experience you have with a full sized portable or standard, but these well made little ultras are just about as fun as they come. The Baby is virtually identical to the Hermes Rocket, only having some minor cosmetic differences in models of the same era.
Quite simply- they type, and they do it anywhere. Meant for getting words on paper, little frills, no unnecessary extras. But what they do, they do very well.
Made by the esteemed Swiss company Hermes, this little machine is everything you could want in a compact, on the go Typewriter.
Mechanically, it types like very well- Smooth, snappy, and very light key travel for it being an ultra portable.
Cosmetically, it's a handsome little machine. Paint is in great condition and the keys are as well.
The pica typeface is classic, professional, and easy to read at 10 cpi.
The travel of the keys is minimal and fairly easy, not typical on ultra portables as the linkages are shortened. It features color selection unlike many of these models which is nice for two color typing or “doubling up” a solid color ribbon.
The case lid is in good shape as well, still works very well at protecting this great little machine!
This is NOT an "as-is" typewriter.
It has been lovingly cleaned, oiled, serviced, and thoroughly tested to ensure it'll hang with whatever you decide to write with it.
It comes with everything you see in the pictures and more;
Your choice of ribbon available in cotton or nylon on vintage metal spools(installed), a reprinted original owners manual, the typewriter, it's case, an OFFICIAL Nashville Typewriter sticker and hand-typed note from me, the typeface text sample, and even a few sheets of paper to get you started on the path to analog independence and distraction free writing!
