1971 Smith Corona Classic 12 *SCRIPT*

$579.99

Cursive Script Typeface (12 cpi)

Considered by many to be the pinnacle of SCM portable Typewriter development, the Classic 12 is the top of the line portable Typewriter sold by Smith Corona in the late 60’s to 70’s.

This one is in virtually mint condition. The paint, plastic, and mechanics all as nice as the day it was purchased in 1971. The cursive script is very beautiful and leaves a nice imprint as the platen is still a bit soft. The script is a nice one, whimsical and loopy with capitals that come down past the line. As a result, this IS a monochrome machine that uses a solid color ribbon only.

These portables are much beloved by collectors and writers alike.

The 50's era Smith Coronas were(and are) a fine example of American design and quality that only improved as they moved into the 60’s and 70’s.

The Classic 12 is the culmination of years of Smith Corona innovations in the Galaxie line of portable Typewriters. They had things very well figured out by this point, and the Classic 12 has ALL the bells and whistles!

A true writers machine; the keystrokes are light and easy, the carriage smooth, and the cursive script PERFECT for correspondence, poetry, recipes, or anything else that you’re inspired to write with it.

It is in very good condition. The paint, plastic, and mechanics are all virtually untouched by the years and the case, while maybe not beautiful, IS handsome, in similar condition and does a fine job protecting the machine. Has the original key so you can protect your beauty from being tampered with. Ha.

This is NOT an "as-is" typewriter.

It has been lovingly cleaned, oiled, serviced, and thoroughly tested to ensure it'll hang with whatever you decide to write with it.

It comes with everything you see in the pictures and more;

A brand spankin' new solid black ribbon on super cool Smith Corona metal spools(installed), a reprinted original owners manual, the typewriter, it's handsome and rugged hard case, an OFFICIAL Nashville Typewriter sticker and hand-typed note from me, the typeface text sample, and even a few sheets of paper to get you started on the path to analog independence and distraction free writing!
