1954 Smith Corona Silent
Elite Typeface (12 cpi)
Considered by many to be the pinnacle of SCM portables, the 5 series is a snappy, handsome machine that much beloved by writers. Mechanically, it types like very well- Smooth, snappy, and satisfying.
The Silent was the culmination Smith Corona portables up to thius era. It is very similar to the earlier model Silents, but adds the 5 series reliability and iconic green keys.
Cosmetically, the gray taupe paint is good shape. Some slight signs of use, but nothing that detracts from the overall aesthetic. The elite typeface produces a very nice imprint, and at 12 characters per inch, it can fit more words on the page.
The case is in good condition as well, one of the the “tweed” covered wooden cases that predate the “Holiday” case.
Smith Corona Typewriters were(and are) a fine example of American design and quality. A true writers machine, and the signs of use only add to the character!
A very cool typewriter that’s a joy to look at, and even more so to use!
It comes with everything you see in the pictures and more;
YOUR CHOICE of an solid black or bichrome ribbon in nylon or cotton on vintage Smith Corona specific metal spools(installed), a reprinted owners manual, the typewriter, its handsome and sturdy hard case, an OFFICIAL Nashville Typewriter sticker and hand-typed note from me, the typeface text sample, and even a few sheets of paper to get you started on your path to analog independence and distraction-free writing!
