1949 Smith Corona Sterling
Pica Typeface (10 cpi)
Matte brown crinkle, green accent keys
There’s something about these old Smith Coronas that just feels right…
They type like a dream, are reliable, and looks like a typewriter should! Cosmetically, it's a handsome machine. The paint and mechanics are all in good shape, it was well cared for by its original owner. Case is in good condition as well, still latches properly and does a fine job protecting this machine while traveling.
The pica typeface is professional, soft, and very typewriter-y. A handsome, quick machine- light key-feel, decisive strikes, and overall just a joy to use!
This is a very early example of the 5 series portable Smith Corona became known for, and was a lot of fun to clean and service- I really love working on these little machines, very smartly engineered!
This is NOT an "as-is" typewriter.
It has been lovingly cleaned, oiled, serviced, and thoroughly tested to ensure it'll hang with whatever you decide to write with it.
It comes with everything you see in the pictures and more;
YOUR CHOICE of a brand spankin' new solid black, or bichrome (red/black) ribbon available in cotton or nylon on vintage Smith Corona specific metal spools(installed), a reprinted original owners manual, the typewriter & its handsome case case, an OFFICIAL Nashville Typewriter sticker and hand-typed note from me, the typeface text sample, and even a few sheets of paper to get you started on the path to analog independence and distraction free writing!
Has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled lightly in the spots that are supposed to be, and serviced by someone that LOVES typewriters.
FREE SHIPPING in the continental US!
